oan is a photo journalist, who used to specialise on investigative journalism in conflict zones. Now she is working mainly as an editor, a job that is boring and meaningless to her. When her friend James approached her, to report on one of his sponsored expeditions, she was less  than enthusiastic, since James is a geologist and rocks are barely more exciting then an office, but agreed to get at least some time out in the field.

Over the time of the expedition, Joan finds, that she is enjoying her time way more than she initially thought.
